As part of the “Bartın Assessment and Evaluation Week [Bartın Ölçme ve Değerlendirme Haftası]” organized by Bartın İl Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü [Bartın Provincial Directorate of National Education] between April 1–3, 2026, members of the Department of Foreign Language Education at Bartın University delivered a series of seminars and hands-on workshops for English teachers working in schools across the city.
A total of 20 English teachers participated in the event, which aimed to enhance classroom assessment literacy and introduce practical, research-informed approaches to evaluating language skills. The program covered a range of key topics in English Language Teaching:
Asst. Prof. Dr. Kenan Çetin conducted a workshop titled “Digital Quiz Tools and H5P in ELT: Comparing Platform Options and Features,” focusing on the pedagogical affordances of interactive content tools and their integration into learning management systems.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Burcu Ak delivered multiple sessions addressing alternative and formative assessment as well as assessment aligned with the CEFR.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Doğan Can Akçin focused on assessing writing skills, highlighting rubric design and process-oriented evaluation.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Fatma Gümüşok presented on assessing reading skills, discussing text selection and comprehension measurement strategies.
Asst. Prof. Dr. İnanç Karagöz addressed assessing listening skills, with an emphasis on task authenticity and difficulty calibration.
Throughout the three-day program, participants engaged in interactive discussions, practical demonstrations, and collaborative activities designed to bridge theory and practice. The event contributed to strengthening university–school collaboration while supporting teachers’ professional development in assessment and evaluation.
