Bartın University Language and Education Research Group (BALERG)
Bartın University Language and Education Research Group (BALERG) is an active interdisciplinary research group hosted by the Department of Foreign Language Education, Faculty of Education, Bartın University.
BALERG brings together researchers working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, educational technology, technology-enhanced learning, language education, teacher education, and applied linguistics. The group promotes collaborative research, interdisciplinary projects, research dissemination, and the development of innovative approaches to language teaching and learning.

Current Research
Current research interests within BALERG particularly focus on the educational applications of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and generative AI, and their implications for language learning, teaching, assessment, materials development, and teacher education.
The group is also interested in the design, implementation, and evaluation of technology-enhanced and task-based learning environments, digital learning materials, educational applications, and innovative approaches to language education.
Research Activities
BALERG organizes research meetings and academic discussions designed to support research collaboration, methodological development, and the dissemination of ongoing research.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Kenan Çetin serves as the Principal Investigator (PI) and Research Group Lead of BALERG. He coordinates the group's research activities, collaborative studies, research meetings, academic outputs, and the development of new research initiatives.
His academic work focuses on English language teaching, artificial intelligence in education, educational technology, technology-enhanced language learning, teacher education, materials evaluation, and applied linguistics. He teaches undergraduate and graduate-level courses and contributes to postgraduate research through supervision and thesis evaluation.
