BALERG Third Meeting: Exploring the Dynamics of Foreign Language Anxiety

On November 21, 2024, the third session of the Bartın University Language and Education Research Group (BALERG) series featured a thought-provoking presentation by Dr. Erdi Şimşek titled "Rethinking Foreign Language Anxiety in a Dynamic Perspective."

Dr. Şimşek explored the evolution of language anxiety research, contrasting traditional static models with contemporary views that frame anxiety as a dynamic factor in the language learning process. He highlighted the multifaceted nature of anxiety experienced not only by learners but also by educators in foreign language teaching contexts. During the session, Dr. Şimşek presented established frameworks for understanding and addressing language anxiety and encouraged members to share their insights and experiences. This collaborative discussion aimed to inspire novel conceptualizations of anxiety in language teaching classrooms.

The session concluded by emphasizing the emotional complexities of language learning and the need for further research on teacher anxiety to explore innovative support mechanisms for both learners and educators
