Department of Foreign Language Education Hosts Session on eTwinning and Initial Teacher Education
With the initiative and support of Özdem Ünal, the eTwinning Provincial Coordinator for Bartın, a meeting was held at Bartın University Department of Foreign Language Education to introduce eTwinning and Initial Teacher Education (ITE) to faculty members.
During her visit, Özdem Ünal gave a presentation on how eTwinning works, its goals, and how student teachers can take part in international school collaborations through the platform. She also shared examples of successful eTwinning projects and provided information on how teacher candidates and academic staff can start their own projects in the future.
As part of the meeting, Çağla Nur Fikirli, Communications Officer of the Turkish National Support Service for eTwinning and Coordinator for ITE, joined the session online. She introduced the national ITE-eTwinning initiative and outlined how eTwinning is being integrated into teacher education in Türkiye.
In the second half of the event, one of the department’s graduates, Rüveyda Betül Asmacı, who is currently an English teacher at Hakkari Sermaye Piyasası Ortaokulu, connected online with her students. Together, they talked about their current eTwinning project, providing a practical example of how such projects are carried out in schools and how students engage with them.
The department sincerely thanks Özdem Ünal for organizing and leading the event, as well as Çağla Nur Fikirli and Rüveyda Betül Asmacı for their valuable contributions.
