Teachers’ Day Celebrated with Events at the Faculty of Education (Session 1)

The first session of events organized as part of the Teachers’ Day celebrations took place on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at the Faculty of Education Conference Hall. The celebration commenced with an opening speech by Bartın University Rector, Prof. Dr. Orhan UZUN, who underscored the importance of Teachers’ Day. In his address, Prof. Dr. UZUN paid tribute to the teaching profession, extending his heartfelt congratulations to all educators, especially Head Teacher Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the nation’s martyr teachers.

The event continued with a heartwarming activity titled "Letters to the Teachers of the Future," where texts prepared by students from various provinces were read aloud. These letters, shared by prospective teachers, created vibrant and memorable moments for the audience.

Following this segment, the results of the reels competition, themed "A Day in the Life of a Teacher," were announced. The competition, which received enthusiastic participation from the BARÜ family, generated widespread engagement. The winners, Zeynep Sude KURUKAHVECİ and Gizem YÖNAL, were presented with their awards by Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan UZUN and Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Fatma ÜNAL.

Adding a touch of wisdom and nostalgia to the event, 82-year-old retired teacher and one of Bartın’s living treasures, Nergis YAKIN, shared her professional journey and reflections with the participants. Her inspiring stories resonated deeply with the audience.

The program continued with a captivating musical performance by faculty members from the Music Education Department.

In the final segment, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Fatma ÜNAL, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Associate Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Asiye PARLAK RAKAP, Dr. Lecturer Seçil Eda ÖZKAYRAN, Dr. Lecturer Yasemin BÜYÜKŞAHİN, retired teacher Nergis YAKIN, the Music Education Department faculty members, and all the students who contributed to the successful organization of this meaningful event.
